SSC Exams Eligibility Criteria

SSC Exams Age Limit

SSC Exams Nationality Requirement

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India, Bhutan, or Nepal.
  • For those Tibetan refugees who have settled in India before 1st January 1962, they can also apply for the different exams held by SSC.
  • If you are an Indian citizen by the origin and have migrated from countries like Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zambia, Vietnam, and others with the sole aim to live permanently in India can also for the various posts.

Educational Qualifications

For getting a Government job with the help of SSC exams, you need to fulfill the required educational qualifications.

  • For appearing for the examination, a person must have completed his/her graduation from a recognized institution or University.
  • While this is the essential requirement for applying to most posts, there are a few additional qualifications one needs to apply to other positions.
  • • If you want to apply for the post of Statistical Investigator-Grade B, you need to have completed your graduation with 60 percent marks in Mathematics at the class 12 level. Or you must have Statistics as a subject at the graduation level.
  • • For the Compiler post, you need to have completed your Bachelor’s with Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics as an elective or as a compulsory subject.
  • • For the post of Assistant Section Officer, one must be a graduate and also must qualify in the Computer Proficiency Test.
  • • If you want to apply for the post of Assistant Audit Officer, you need to have completed your Bachelors or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Commerce or have completed CA/ MBA/ CS.

Physical Fitness

Physical test

Male candidates- 1600 meters walking in 15 minutes and cycling 8 km in 30 minutes
Women candidates- 1 km walking in 20 minutes and 3 km in 25 minutes

There are few exemptions in the examination for candidates who are orthopedically disabled. For these candidates, the physical tests are not allowed.

SSC conducts this examination for recruiting candidates for many vacant posts of DEO (Data Entry Operator), PA or SA (Postal Assistants or Sorting Assistants), LDC (Lower Division Clerk) in numerous Ministries as well as Central Government Departments. The upper age limit for appearing this examination is 18 years, and the lower age limit is 27 years. The selection process of this examination is done in three ways. They are as follows:

  • SSC CHSL Level 1: Computer Based Examination
  • SSC CHSL Level 2: Descriptive Paper
  • SSC CHSL Level 3: Typing as well as Skill Examination
  1. SSC Multitasking (Non-Technical)

SSC conducts an examination annually to recruit staff for Multi-Tasking posts such as Non-Ministerial Post, General Central Service Group C Non-Gazetted Post in numerous Departments or Offices, or Ministries of the Government of India for many different states and Union Territories. The minimum age limit to appear in this examination is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 25 to 17 years based on the applied posts.

The review for SSC MTS is held in two phases. One is Paper I, which is the Computer Based Test and the other one is Paper-II which is the Descriptive Paper. After meeting the cut off marks of the Paper I, the candidates are allowed to sit for Paper-II examination.

  1. SSC Stenographers “C” and “D”

The SSC conducts an Open Competitive Computer Based Test each year to recruit candidates for Stenographer Group “C” (Group “B” Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Group “D” (Group “C”) posts for numerous Organizations, Departments, and Ministries in the Government of India. The age criteria for the SSC Stenographers “C” and “D” are for Stenographer Group “C”, the upper age limit should be 18 years, and the lower age limit should be 30 years. The selection process of this examination is generally conducted in two phases- one is Online Computer Based Test, and the other is the Skill Test.

  1. SSC CPO

Every year the Staff Selection Commission conducts an Open Competitive Computer Based Test for the recruitment in SSC CPO. This recruitment is generally for the posts of SI (Sub-Inspector) in Delhi Police as well as CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces). The age limit of the candidate to appear for this examination should be between 20-25 years. The selection processes of this examination are as follows:

  • Paper-I
  • PST (Physical Standard Test) or PET (Physical Endurance Test)
